James Hyde is a New York based artist. As a painter his practice involves image generation that often transcends the realms of the gallery space through a playful investigation of materials. His work varies dramatically in scale and physicality. Recent solo exhibitions include: Contemporary Links 4, San Diego Museum of Art; In The Future We Will Know More, Reynolds Gallery, Richmond and Pillow Talk, Solvent Space, Virginnia Commonwealth University, Richmond. He will participate in a group show in London at David Risley Gallery from 22nd November 7th January 2006/07. His guest, Gavin Wade is an artist-curator, serial collaborator and Research
Fellow in Curating at the University of Central England. His
practice combines a number of strategies from developing structures
within exhibitions for supporting the work of others to a broader
enquiry into utopian sites of/for art, resulting in projects merging
fiction, public space and whatever else feels urgent at the time. Recent
projects include: Public Structures, Guang Zhou Triennial, China
(2005); Support Structure Phase 1-6, with architect |
